An increase in sales to PLN 50.5 billion, exports to EUR 10.9 billion, a sure place on the podium of the world's largest exporters - these are the most important achievements of Polish furniture manufacturers last year according to OIGPM estimates for 2019. To maintain the upward trend, it is worth looking for customers outside of Europe, in the most promising markets - according to InfoCredit data.

From February 25 in Poznań, one of the fastest growing Polish export industries presents its offer for 2020. Furniture Polska 2020 Fair consists of 11 pavilions, about 500 companies and brands. Buyers from nearly 70 countries assess the latest furniture collections for the next sales season. This is a great opportunity for exhibitors.

Polish furniture is present almost all over the world. The problem is that we send them mainly to European countries, from where they are often re-exported further. On the one hand - Poland is a tycoon on the German market. On the other - it is with Germany that we compete for second place among the world's largest furniture exporters. The way to overtake and distance Germany in this ranking is to expand and attract new customers on the world's largest markets. For now, in the first 12 largest importers of Polish furniture, as many as 11 are countries from our continent.

According to data for 2018, the value of Polish furniture exports to Germany is constantly growing. Currently, it is already USD 4.92 billion - according to data from the analytical company InfoCredit. We are the main supplier of furniture to the market of our western neighbor, ahead of China (USD 4.68 billion). The next places among our recipients are occupied by Great Britain (USD 981 million), Czech Republic (USD 980.5 million), the Netherlands and France (USD 858 and 850 million).

It is worth emphasizing that Polish producers see their chance on global markets. The best example is the US, which already occupy the sixth place among importers from Poland, buying furniture for almost USD 550 million. Sales to the United States are increasing every year. In 2016, it amounted to USD 421 million. Sales increase by over 30% in two years seems an impressive result. Let's add, however, that in 2018 furniture imports to the USA were worth over USD 72 billion. The situation is similar in the Canadian and Japanese markets. Canada imports furniture annually for USD 9.3 billion, of which only for USD 138 million from Poland. Japan for USD 8.2 billion, of which Poland is only USD 28 million.

The main furniture supplier to global markets are companies from China. Their sales to the USA are over USD 38 billion. China is therefore responsible for almost 53 percent. American imports. Poland is vain to be found in the top ten American suppliers, in Canada they occupy the sixth place. On the other hand - Polish companies are able to compete with Asian ones on the international arena. Poland is the number 1 supplier not only in Germany, but also in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. In Denmark and Sweden it is number 2, in Italy and the Netherlands it is in third place. The use of European experience in new markets will provide Polish exporters with subsequent years of sales growth. And not only. There is also a lot to do in France and Great Britain. The share of Polish furniture in imports to these countries is 7.1 percent, respectively. and 8.3% As for the global exporter no. So we still have a lot of reserves.
